It’s a new year, and for many that means a new beginning. Fresh start, new goals, and old goals revisited. Many make those old, trusty “new year’s resolutions” that fizzle after a few months, or even weeks.
This year I have decided that I am not going to do my standard resolutions of *lose weight, eat healthier and exercise*. While I really need to do those things, I feel I just set myself up for failure, by making them my goals year after year, with no real progress in sight.
This year I am going to try to focus on these things:
- Organization: In my home, my schedule and my business. We own too much stuff, and clutter has started to make me crazy, so as I organize, I will be reducing and re-using as I can, to make my life simpler.
- New Recipes: We are in a rut, and since I am the main chef, I guess I am really the one in the rut. So this year, I am going to be trying out some new recipes and ways of cooking things. My kids are pretty picky, so this might not go well with them, but they can always make a PB&J if they don’t like what I offer.
- Planned Activities: Mainly for my littles who don’t really have many “planned” activities. Whether it be library story time, the children’s museum, or park play on nice days, I will try to have something on the calendar that they can look forward to and enjoy.
- Time for myself: Whether it’s taking a class, a long walk, a soaking bath, an outing with a friend, whatever will feed my soul and what I feel I need at the time, that is what I will do.
I do expect that this will keep me rather busy, and to help me out, I purchased a page a day calendar
http://www.calendars.com/Moms-Family/Busy-Moms-Pad-Page-A-Day-2011-Desk-Calendar/prod1289756/?categoryId=cat00152 and hope that this will help in my tasks for the upcoming year. It’s big enough that I won’t lose it, it has some trivial info on it, new word each day, a quote, famous birthdays, and the biggie, plenty of room to write! I’ll keep you updated as to whether I use it as intended or whether it ends up as scratch paper 🙂
