I had the pleasure of testing a new pattern by Love Notions, the Lotus Blossom Blouse. There are actually 2 patterns available, girls size 2T -16, and ladies size through 3XL. This PDF pattern goes together simply, with a no trim page and layering, which means you can pick and choose what size or sizes you want to print. I love both of these options!!!
This is the girls size 14 that I made for my daughter. Made from a lightweight knit for the awesome drape, this top is perfect for spring and summer wear! She also really liked it and wore it the day after I made it, and wants me to make her more!!
Her younger sis, also wants me to make her some. This is a quick sew, taking about 1 hour, after the pattern has been assembled. Love Notions patterns have great tutorials with them, with step by step instructions, sewing tips and photos. At the very end of the pattern there are inspirational photos so you can see many different sizes and fabrics that were used by testers.
If you have not yet tried a Love Notions pattern, they are great for both kids and adults. You can find Love Notions patterns on Etsy, Craftsy, or Love Notions Website
If you are looking for a pattern that has great twirl, is stylish, works for the holidays, weddings, or parties, this would be the dress pattern for you!!! This multi-sized pattern goes from 12 months to size 8. I recently had the opportunity to test this pattern, and I can say that I will definitely be making this again!! It’s not a hard pattern, but does take some time, so I would allow for that in your planning and sewing. This can be made from cotton wovens (like I used) or out of special occasion fabrics for fancier wear.
The fabrics I used were purchased at Hobby Lobby. They have a wonderful selection of prints with coordinating fabrics, so it’s very easy to choose fabrics that go together (well….once you decide on the main print that is.). In my photos, my daughter is wearing a pettiskirt under her dress for added fullness, but you definitely don’t have to do this. It has awesome twirl with or without a pettiskirt.
The designer behind this pattern is Honeydew Kisses. This is her first pattern release, and she did a wonderful job of communicating and listening to all her testers, to make sure this pattern would be easy to understand and follow. This is a PDF pattern, which means once you purchase, you download it, print it out and tape it together. While this may sound very time consuming, it’s really pretty simple, and I can tall you, that the more you do this, the quicker and easier it gets!! You can find the pattern in her ETSY shop and also in her Crafty shop. You can also like her facebook page to get announcements about her patterns and sales.
Here are photos of my finished version of the dress
I am not a quilter. However, I have been sewing for many years now, mostly kids clothing. But this year, I have decided to try to learn some quilting techniques, and so I am going to be following this Skill Builder Block of the Month from Pile O’Fabric. This will be a year long process, and is broken down month by month. I have included a banner for the block of the month class, if you would like to find out more, or participate. The only quilts I have sewn are little doll quilts for swaps at Sewing Mamas. These are something that I know I can finish up, as they are only about 16×20″.
